Even in the sun, our ingenious range of synthetic sisal look-alike collection of Anywhere floor coverings can be used everywhere, from outdoor rugs to kitchen, bathroom and conservatory carpets.
How do you clean faux / synthetic carpets?
Spots and spills on our faux floor coverings are relatively easy problems to resolve due to the synthetic materials use in the pile of the carpet. To help you take the best care of your faux carpet, we've got some great hints and tips when it comes to care and cleaning.
Vacuum regularly to help extend the life of your synthetic flooring, especially in those busy areas which receive the most footfall. When it comes to spots and spills, WoolSafe, our cleaning partner recommends using products with the CleanSeal Certification mark, but our Natural Flooring Care Kit will also work well. Always act quickly and remove any excess spill - remember, it's always easier to remove new stains than old ones! Before applying any spotting agent, remember to pre-test it on an inconspicuous area of the carpet. Wearing rubber gloves, apply the spotting agent to a white cloth and apply to the stain. Use small amounts and repeat as necessary, being careful not to over wet the carpet. Work from the edge of the stain inwards and remember: Always blot, never rub, as this can distort the fibre of the carpet.

What material is the Anywhere collection made from, and why is it called "Faux"?
The Anywhere collection is made of a highly durable synthetic fibre to give it its unique performance characteristics.
- Pile Material: The carpets are constructed using 100% Polypropylene.
- "Faux" Sisal Look: They are "faux" because they are crafted to visually and texturally resemble natural sisal, jute, or coir carpets (with weaves like Bouclé, Panama, and Herringbone) but without the limitations of natural fibres.
- Benefit: This synthetic composition allows the carpets to be fitted virtually "anywhere," including spaces where moisture-sensitive natural fibres wouldn't be the most suitable, such as kitchens and bathrooms.
How do I clean the Anywhere carpet, and how does it handle spillages?
Cleaning is one of the collection's strongest selling points, offering superior resistance compared to natural plant fibre alternatives.
- Spill Resistance: Polypropylene is highly stain-resistant, particularly against water-based liquids.
- Easy Cleaning: A majority of spills can be cleaned easily with warm water and a mild detergent. For more challenging marks, it is significantly more robust than natural sisal, allowing for gentler scrubbing if necessary.
- Outdoor Care: If used outdoors, Anywhere floor coverings can simply be hosed down and allowed to air dry.
How does the texture and feel of Faux Anywhere compare to real Sisal?
The collection is designed to mimic the popular woven looks of Sisal while offering a softer, more user-friendly experience.
- Visual Mimicry: Weaves like Anywhere Bouclé, Panama, and Herringbone perfectly capture the dense, textured look of natural woven fibres.
- Tactile Difference: Unlike real sisal, which can feel more rustic underfoot, the synthetic polypropylene fibre provides a much smoother and more comfortable texture.
- No Splintering: The synthetic fibre will not splinter or sprout, making it smoothert for bare feet in areas like bedrooms or around pools.
Can I have a bespoke rug or runner made from the Anywhere collection, and are there special borders for outdoor use?
Yes, the versatility extends perfectly to custom-made rugs and runners.
- Custom Rugs: Any broadloom carpet from the Anywhere collection can be crafted into a bespoke rug or runner using the Alternative Flooring 'Make Me A Rug' online designer.
- "Inside-Out" Borders: The collection features durable binding options, often referred to as "Anywhere borders." These fabrics are designed to be as weather-resistant and hardwearing and when combined with an Anywhere Rug centre they make the rug or runner fully suitable for prolonged outdoor use.
Does the Anywhere collection offer both subtle and bold design options?
Yes, the collection covers a range of textures and colours suitable for different interior spaces and aesthetics.
- Natural look Textures: Collections like Anywhere Bouclé and Anywhere Panama offer classic, neutral, sisal-look textures in soft, earthy colour tones (Ice, Caramel, Syrup) for a subtle, grounding effect.
- Pattern & Colour: Collections like Anywhere Herringbone and Anywhere Rope provide a dynamic, smart pattern that adds structure, while Anywhere Accents features unique pops of colour (Saffron, Mint) for a more statement look.
How does Anywhere perform in rooms with intense sunlight, such as conservatories or south-facing windows?
This is an area where the synthetic composition excels, offering superior colourfastness.
- Colourfast: Unlike many natural fibres that can bleach or fade when exposed to direct sunlight, the Anywhere collection will retain its colour and structural integrity, making it ideal for the brightest rooms in the house.
Does the Anywhere collection require underlay, and what kind is recommended for synthetic carpets?
While not strictly required for performance, underlay is still highly recommended for comfort and installation benefits.
- Installation: For wall-to-wall fitting indoors, a basic low-profile underlay will help the carpet lie smoothly, improve insulation, and protect the backing.
- Comfort: For any domestic installation, adding underlay will significantly enhance the softness and acoustic insulation, making the synthetic carpet feel more luxurious.
